INXECT SUIT

The Inxect suit is a wearable regenerative device that breaks down toxic plastic into edible proteins with a low carbon footprint. The design enables a symbiotic relationship between a human body and a mealworm colony, targeting both future food security and plastic pollution.

PLASTIC EATING
INSECTS

The mealworm is the protein rich larva of the darkling beetle. Mealworms have the ability to eat and digest toxic plastic, without taking any damage. This makes them not only one of the most sustainable protein sources but also one that could sit on the solution to the fast growing problem of plastic waste. The rest product of the organic process, when mealworms eat plastics, also generates effective fertilizers and raw biomaterials that can be used in creating new biodegradable bioplastics.
