The human body
as a power plant

The inxect suit (IXI) emphasizes the human body as a power plant. The suit captures the user’s heat and humidity, which is then channeled into a mealworm habitat integrated in the front of the suit. The environment of the habitat is constantly measured and communicated through sensors. By displays mounted on the suit the user is provided with data, displaying temperature, relative humidity, CO2 levels and light conditions. In order to create the optimal environment for the mealworm colony, the user needs to respond to the communicated data by applying body movement and a variety of actions. Once the environment is stable the mealworms will consume toxic plastic waste that is fed by the user.
